Why meditate? Research, 12-Step programs, and personal experience strongly advocate breathing meditation for calming a brain under stress. A brain under stress can easily misinterpret a stress challenge as a threat. When that occurs, the communication with the executive functioning of the pre-frontal cortex is lost. The brain is left with only three defensive options: fight, flee or freeze.

Learning breathing meditation, and practicing it regularly, will equip your brain and therefore your mind, to function under stress in a helpful and productive way.

This Workbook was birthed from a workshop presented by Mary Anne in San Jose, CA. The participants asked for such a workbook, so in response, it was written.

Many a 12-Stepper recites the Serenity Prayer at meetings and privately, but they do so merely by rote (i.e., "the mechanical repetition of something so that it is remembered, often without real understanding of its meaning or significance", from MacWord Dictionary).
As powerful as the Prayer is, the recovering person typically has little opportunity to learn how to tap into that power.

The Serenity Prayer WORKBOOK is designed to remedy this dilemma.
